I am fortunate to have a family that has always encouraged my creative interests. I loved watching Bob Ross's ‘The Joy of Painting’ with my grandmother. Much of my artwork continues to be inspired by Ross.
In grade school, art was one of my favorite subjects. I did not focus on art after seventh grade as classes were not available. During that time, I focused on music, playing piccolo in marching and concert band. Working through College and settling into a career as a Registered Nurse certainly did not leave much time for creative pursuits. I did eventually begin to again, put pencil to paper and paint to canvas. I began watching artists on you tube and trying out their tutorials. At the age of Thirty-five, I was invited to a paint and pour party, where I met the artist/instructor. I was totally hooked. The instructor told me about another class she was teaching and I joined right away. Through this process, I have met the most amazing and close group of friends. They have become such a huge and wonderful part of my life.
In June of 2022, I officially started my business ‘Kelly Popella Art’ and launched my online store in January of 2023. Establishing myself as a professional artist comes with a continual learning curve. It is a dream come true to be able to share my passion and art with others.
Creatively yours,
Kelly
